An ermine robe and a coat of arms used to be the trappings of the House of Lords, but 'Baroness Bra' Michelle Mone has introduced a new badge of honour.

Lady Mone of Mayfair, as she's now known, has been posing for naked selfies. She claims they're to motivate her to lose weight.

The 44-year-old Glaswegian's currently on a crash diet and tough training regime. 'Got my body stats done and almost cried,' she wails. 'Due to a broken foot and having tons of fun with Provence rosé wine my body fat has gone from 16 per cent to 26 per cent, gained 17lb and fitness level down by 15 per cent.

'Decided to take my clothes off and took pictures of my body to remind myself how I really look.'

At the end of the day, Lady Mone admitted she was 'dying for a glass of wine', adding: 'But hell no after I looked at my naked pictures.'

All we can do is pray that Lord Prescott doesn't follow her lead.

David Bowie was known for ‘borrowing’ his best ideas, but it appears he could steal the shirt off your back, too.

Backing singer Ava Cherry made the mistake of showing him the zoot-suits of her jazz musician father. ‘I asked Dad if David could use one of the suits, and my dad was like: “OK.” David finished the tour with it and I asked him if I could have it back, and he said: “No, it’s mine; it’s me.” ’

Why Poldark's not quite so perfect

Far be it from me to shatter the illusions of his army of admirers, but Poldark star Aidan Turner isn’t all he’s cracked up to be.

His make-up artist on the hit BBC drama, Pamela Haddock, has revealed the ingenious techniques she uses to make the 33-year-old actor’s shirtless body light up the screen.

‘I used a cosmetic camouflage called Dermacolour, which comes in about 12 different shades, and I’d give him a bit more definition with the darker shades,’ she discloses. ‘I even used it on his face under his cheekbones and on his temples — just to make him look a little bit more perfect.’

Pamela certainly seems to have fallen for the Irishman’s charms, admitting: ‘Some of my fondest moments are of Aidan and I sharing music in the make-up room.’

Saucy: Novelist Kathy Lette

Saucy: Novelist Kathy Lette

Has the romance ebbed in the marriage of saucy novelist Kathy Lette and her husband of nearly 26 years, human rights barrister Geoffrey Robertson QC?

The author says: ‘My husband and I fell in love at first sight, but love prepares you for marriage the way needlepoint prepares you for round-the-world yachting.

‘With increased longevity, from honeymoon to tomb can be 70 or 80 years. That’s a long time to find someone’s anecdotes amusing.’

Meanwhile, Aussie-born Kathy, 57, who has two children with Robertson, says the menopause ‘gives a woman licence to behave badly’.

She explains: ‘After decades of mollifying overwrought teenagers or pacifying an irascible husband over car dents or heating bills, my family has to tiptoe round me for a change.

‘Life’s too short to be subtle. Be bold and brave, and never give up the chance to swing on a chandelier.’

Let’s hope the chandelier is Geoffrey’s.

'We don't need no demolition' protest hits Pink Floyd star

Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour was devastated when his adopted son Charlie was sent to jail for hooliganism during a student fees demonstration in Whitehall, but now he faces some awkward protesters of his own.

The 70-year-old guitarist and his glamorous novelist wife, Polly Samson, have enraged conservationists with their plans to demolish a historic former bath house to make way for a luxurious new home.

Protesters have pinned a poster to barrier walls around decaying Medina House in Hove, East Sussex, referring to the lyrics of Pink Floyd’s 1979 hit, Another Brick in the Wall. Calling themselves Save Hove From Property Tycoons, the group wrote:

We don’t need no demolition,

We don’t need no thoughtless plans,

No tall dark shadows across our windows,

Leave Medina House alone.

Hey Gilmour! Leave our ’hood alone

All in all it’s just another betrayal of us all

To you it’s just another brick in the wall.

Gilmour and Samson hope to build a home on the site of the 122-year-old former Turkish baths for their extended family of eight children, yards from their current seafront property.

Polly, 54, fell in love with Medina House after moving to Hove in 2009 and hoped to restore it, but surveys apparently revealed that it was beyond salvaging. She bought it last October for a seven-figure sum from a property developer who had owned it for 16 years.

Speaking for the couple, architect Keb Garavito-Bruhn at London-based Pilbrow & Partners, says: ‘Polly Samson and David Gilmour were appalled by the way that the building has been treated.’

He said Medina House had deteriorated beyond ‘economic repair’ because of ‘misfortune, neglect, fire’, plus subsidence and damage to the structural frame. He added: ‘Our plans are to rebuild Medina House, keeping the form of the original and incorporating heritage features from the bath house.’

One thousand residents have been invited to an exhibition this month where designs for the new building will be on display.

Let’s hope the protests remain good-natured.

Sober Pippa goes grey on her birthday

Given the excitement her figure-hugging dress provoked at her sister Kate’s wedding, Pippa Middleton’s bridal gown is already causing feverish speculation.

And to mark her 33rd birthday yesterday, Pippa smouldered in 50 shades of grey. Sporting tight grey peddle-pushers and a satin pussybow blouse, Pippa went out for lunch in London with her mother, Carole, who was an air hostess when flying was still chic.

Pippa, whose engagement to hedge fund manager James Matthews was disclosed by this newspaper in July, stepped out in £255 Tory Burch croc-effect wedges and added some colour with her £795 AEVHA London Arboreal Garnet tote bag.

Not to be outshone, Carole, 61, chose a lemon-yellow shirt, grey cut-off trousers and nude heels.
